Myanmar is a Southeast Asian nation of more than 100 ethnic groups, bordering India, Bangladesh, China, Laos and Thailand. Yangon is Myanmar's main center for trade and handles more than 80 percent of the country's foreign commerce. Rice, teak, and metal ores are the principal exports. 

There are quite a few categories to choose from under Myanmar Visa. The different visa type entitles have different rights concerning about length of stay in Myanmar.

The type of visa the applicants need depend on the purpose of visit.

There are many different types of Myanmar Visa. They include business, tourist, social, religious, transit, education visa. Depending on what type of visa the applicant needs, the requirement also may vary.

The Ministry of Immigration and Population launched the e-Visa Website (https://evisa.moip.gov.mm/) on 1 September 2014. In light of the evolving COVID-19 situation and rapid increase of COVID-19 cases around the globe, there has been a temporary suspension for all new e-Visa applications since 20 March 2020.  At present, the COVID-19 diagnosis confirmed rate and infection rate have dropped. In support of the economic development of the State, the online e – Visa system was reopened on 1 April 2022 for business visa applications in accordance with the COVID-19 rules and regulations of the Ministry of Health.

Myanmar has reopened to International Travellers. People traveling for tourism purposes with the Myanmar Tourist e –Visa are granted a stay of up to 28 days. 

If the foreigner comes to Myanmar for work, they should apply Business Visa (Single / Multiple Entry). If the foreigners want to extend their visa, they need to apply through the respective government ministries.

• Single entry is valid for a 70 – day stay in Myanmar and it’s possible to submit through online (https://evisa.moip.gov.mm/). The duration of extension is at most 6 – Months. 

• Multiple Entry is valid for a 6 month or one year stay in Myanmar. The maximum duration of extension is one year. 

Once the applicant applies the business visa extension for more than 90 days, he or she should also apply Stay permit. 

Stay Permit is given to a foreigner who is planning to stay in Myanmar more than 90 days. The applicant shall apply stay permit after entering to Myanmar by Business Visa allowed to stay 70 days. Stay Permit can be extended. 

If the applicant already has stay permit period, the applicant can only get the duration of business visa extension depending on the stay permit. 

Most foreign investors who come with business visa live at condominium or apartment to do business. The foreigners must report and apply Report of arrival (Form C) to the respective township immigration office within 24 hours when they started to stay. If not, they need to pay penalty or they might get litigation by immigration office. And Form – C is really important thing in visa extension. 

Any foreigner, who wishes to stay in Myanmar for more than 90 days continuously, must need to apply for Foreigner’s Registration Certificate (FRC). FRC shall be surrendered at the International Airport/ point of entry when leaving from Myanmar and when they get back to Myanmar they may revalidated them within 30 days at the initial registration section of foreigner.
